The Artist.
|
Paolo Veronese said "Painting is a celebration of the world. It has no wish to arouse sin, guilt, torment, poverty or fear". Even before my generation, substitutes in many forms including camera and printers became available and had started to disrupt the art of painting. However I believe this art has still survived till date because it provides us a simple outlet to translate our creative emotions on to a visible backdrop.
Although I enjoy the starry night of Van Gogh, apples and pears of Cezanne, water lilies of Monet, paintings of Picasso and Matisse, surrealist works of Salvador Dali, Dripping technique of Pollock, the play of light in Vermeer, point paintings of Seurat, ballerinas of Degas and many more, What inspire me are the classiness in the classics and the mastery in the old masters works.
I incline towards realism with no offence implied to any other forms of art. In my books there is no comparison for Vinci- Mona Lisa, David- Sabine woman, Michelangelo- Sistine chapel, Ruben- Susanna, Raphael- Madonna and the child or Raja Ravi Varma- Lady in the moonlight. Don’t ask why, Rembrandt is my favorite of all painters. |
